Why My Husband is Better Than Yours

Sabra GilbertComment
So I don't think that I brag about Simeon anywhere near as much as I should. And contrary to what the title suggests, I think every husband is the best in their own way, but I really want to honor and brag about Simeon today because of everything he has been through lately. So bare with me while I get all gushy and lovey.

So lets begin with everything that he has accomplished this past week.

- Took the Physics GRE (and I'm sure he aced it!)
- Reveiced an Invited Speaker slot at the WoPhys Confrence to share his research
- Got another chance to share his research at another conference in Kansas City
- Still got all his homework and work done while studying for the GRE

The things that man can accomplish amazes me. He has the general GRE this next week and has still been keeping up with everything else that he does. Want to know what he does on a general basis without giant exams hanging over his head?

- Works an average of 30 hours a week at Walmart
- Works another 6 - 10 doing research on campus
- Does all the dishes every week
- Still maintains his Gold level ranking on League of Legends
- Gets all of his homework done
- Aces every exam
- Writes & Edits research papers
- Loves me more than I ever though another person could love me

Ok, now I'll end with a great photo collage of Simeon being Simeon :D

Celebrating 1 Year |Part 1

Sabra GilbertComment
I seriously can't beleive that Simeon and I are just getting back from our vacation in honor of our 1st Anniversery! The fact that this year has flown by so fast just astounds me. I know everyone talks about how the time will just start flying faster and faster and that just terrifies me. I really feel like yesterday was my wedding day and now we've already celebrated past a whole year and its insanely crazy.

NOt only did Simeon and I celebrate our first wedding anniversery but we were able to celebrate our five year dating anniversery as well. Guys! I feel like we must be getting old cause thats pretty close to a fourth of my entire life. THAT"S A LONG TIME!!!  It's been a crazy wonderful trip and I've loved it.

So anyway. . . Back to the trip! We spent 3 nights and 4 days in Minneapolis, MN! Now, that probably sounds super lame. It isn't a super crazy destination BUT OMG IT WAS WONDERFUL!!!

So lets start on May 17th. Our 1st ever wedding anniversery!! NOw it started a little lame because we woke up at my parents house, but at least we woke up in each others arms. There are many people who don't get that priviledge. We packed everything up and started getting ready for the road. We said our goodbyes and started heading back to Brookings in our seperate cars. (thats another story) So we decided to stop and get gas at this one gas station that we usually stop at cause it has nice low prices. As soon as I pulled up behind a car to wait, I noticed that soemthing wasn't right.

THERE WAS SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE HOOD OF ROY!

(In case I havne't explained, Roy is our new 2001 Dodge Durango. THe car that we knew would be taking us where ever we are going to move to)

So I paniced. Turned the car off. Jumped out the door and ran to SImeon in Penny Margret (my 1989 Park Avenue that was supposed to be a temporary drive around the town car that we recently got fixed enought htat we can drive it out of town!) and screamed that the car is smoking and he needed to come over right now!!!

He got a paniced look on his face and got to work doing his manly thang.

Simeon popped the hood and figured out what was wrong. We pushed the car to the side and Simeon ran to get the part and we were actually back on the road within an hour or so. It was insanely sexy!! :P

We were finally on our way home and got there and packed up and sang our heads off all the way to Minneapolis.

Now Simeon got This || close to getting his butt kicked on the way when we saw a car that said Miss Rodeo South Dakota and Simeon decided to yell that we needed to follow it. :/ ON OUR ANNIVERSERY!! I even told Trent (Simeon's bestie/bestman) about it and Trent scolded Simeon! But we got passed it because I know that Simeon was just kidding and being a pain in the butt like he usually is.

Other than that. . .
The first night was just filled with enjoying each other and reminicing on the past year. And making plans for our trip. It was an awesome night!

I'll be sharing more. But I'm still getting all used to being back to town and getting stuff done! Just Warning, I didn't take any nice pictures on my nice camera. . . so It will be all IPhone pictures! So bare with me while I figure out how to do all that stuff with my phone! :D

How You Know Your Husband Loves You

Sabra GilbertComment
. . . He speed teaches you Statistics after you wait until there is only an hour until the online quiz is due.

. . . He deals with a messy house because you were too busy being a procrastinator

. . . He makes dinner 3 times a week even though he works until 9:30 because you are busy until 10 PM those nights (mostly because of chit chatting with the girls after study or NavNite)

. . . He caves into your wishes for pop, candy, and a lb of fresh bacon even though you said you were going to eat healthier this year.

. . . He just knows that blogging or photography will be brought up at least once every half hour of every conversation.

. . . He tries to not find it too weird when he discovers you researching semen shipping prices for random stallions . . even though you don't even have a mare yet. . . or space for a mare. . . you have a tiny 1 bedroom apartment.

. . . He lets you climb over him to get in and out of bed becuase you would kill yourself walking around the bed because there are 3 laundry baskets of folded clean clothes waiting to be put away.

Basically, my husband loves me even though I am a giant scatter-brain and suck at schedules sometimes. :D

Our First Date

Sabra Gilbert1 Comment

Our first date was planned out months ahead. . . Does that sound weird? Well, it shouldn't. . . since it was Prom. Or was my school just weird in that dates were picked by January, groups of people going together were usually decided by February, with the limo booked by March? Simeon and I were going as just friends. Niether one of us were aware that the other actually liked them (Actually that  might be a lie, Simeon was probably able to tell way before I knew that there was something up). We fought through most of that time to. Not like super hard core fighting, but disaggreements that escalated because they were actually based on something that neither one of us knew what we were actually fighting about.

Simeon wasn't mad that I wouldn't let him wear a kilt to prom, he was mad that I hadn't read his mind that he was going to ask me to Prom and let a friend set me up with a guy from another school instead. Said guy ended up not being able to go so Simeon then asked me, but was still upset about not being my "first choice".

I (on top of just not wanting Simeon to wear a kilt) was upset about the fact that Simeon was self proclaimed never going to date in college. Which meant (I thought) that the whole me being head over heels for him was completely crazy and really annoying that I couldn't get over it.

But that's not the point. By the time we got to prom day came around, we were doing a lot better. We still hadn't explained the real problems to each other yet. But it was no longer a focal point as we all got excited and busy with planning and counting down the days until the awesome night.

The whole night was awesome. We had a limo and the driver totally let us do a Chinese fire drill in the middle of our hometown. We took tons of pictures and danced the night away.

By the end of the night, I knew I was screwed. I was head over heels for this guy that spent the night twirling me on the dance floor. It had felt like his eyes were only on me and I was giddy over his silly dance moves.

Wow, to think that this was all over 4 years ago now. :) We were so young.
