You and Me & Chasing Little G

2016

December Priorities

LIfeSabra GilbertComment

There was a time on this blog when I made monthly and weekly goals and I was decently good at them, but since getting married and bringing home my little zoo of animals, I've realized that sometimes my time isn't 100% mine. So priorities really seems to sound like a better way to put the things that I would like done in a month, but know that my animals, work, or husband will come first if need be.

Wow, that sounded strangely adult-ish.

But anyway! Priorities!!

1|| Actually set some goals for 2017

While I'm avoiding goals this month, I still strongly beleive in yearly goals. Not that I really accomplished the goals that I set last year, but that was because life changed in more ways than I ever thought would happen! But we'll see what I would like to happen and what actually does this next year!

2|| Keep my Christmas tree actually decorated.

Odette and Fox love to play together. The biggest issue is that they love to play in my Christmas tree and have already knocked it down twice! So we will see if this actually happens!

3|| Paint my Nails

I've been trying to paint my nails for 4 weeks. I just want pretty nails!

4|| Master Fudge

I made some this past weekend but it was more like hot fudge than nice yummy melt in your mouth hard fudge like my mom makes. It never set. So I will try again!

5|| Take more photos.

There hit a point this year where I thought I was spending too much time behind the camera and wasn't having any fun in front of the camera or just hanging with people. So then I went to the extreme opposite and haven't really touched my camera much in months.

June Dreaming & Braindump

LIfeSabra GilbertComment

June is about to be a crazy month. Ugh, I totally thought that I was done saying that. Things had seemed to slow down after graduating but with the move and Simeon starting grad school right around the corner, everything is going a little crazy again.

This month will hold a million different changes.

Moving to a new apartment, city, STATE!!

Moving to an actual city. . . that I'm a little nervous about. Driving in a place that busy and that I don't know at all. Oy. I'm not looking forward to it at all.

I'll be finding a part time job to make sure that we have a stable income while Simeon starts school. It will help ease some of the stress off of Simeon, though I'm a little nervous about leaving Fox at home alone and how I'll be able to balance a part time job, MPD, and this blog along with the responsibilities of home and Fox.

Simeon starts grad school. I've been told that it wont actually be that great for me. That he will constantly be busy and I'll never see him or he will be studying all the time. So. . . yay.

SImeon turns 23!! The day after he starts grad school so I'm not 100% sure what we are going to do to celebrate or if we will have to celebrate early or what. I'm not even sure what we will do to celebrate since we will still be doing all the fun move in stuff and buying all the things that you have to when you move to a new place.

Fox turns 5 months! He is getting huge people. HUGE! Much bigger than Snickers already and getting close to Kya's size. We will have to find all the new places to take him out and about. I'm excited to take him to the giant dog park with creeks now that he has decided that water isn't that bad. We bought him a little pool and he loves running in and out of it. Though it's a little too small for him to really play in so he likes the daycare blow up pool a lot more. . . which may or may not have lead to a deflated pool. . . I really hope that he will take to swimming now! And be better with baths! I guess we will find that out tomorrow though!

I'm worried that Fox is going to take moving really hard. He's grown quite attached to Snickers and Kya and my mom, so I'm pretty sure that we are gonna have to try to keep him super busy for the first week so that he doesn't pout very much. And he will probably be spoiled rotten with at least three new toys and treats if we're being honest here. He got like 5 toys when we just moved out of our apartment alone! So. . . yeah. Spoiled puppy.

Speaking of our new apartment though, I'm insanely excited to start decorating. Our new bedding came in yesterday (with a big dry clean only tag on it. . . so that will be fun!) and now we just have to settle in on some sheets. We bought our first adult couch as well as a nice dresser for our new room! I'm a little nervous about if the bedding will go with the dresser since I couldn't exactly remember what the dresser looked like when I  purchased the bedding. But it's a lot of neutrals so now I have to figure out some little pops of color. Or maybe I'll just leave it neutral and calm in the bedroom. We'll see! But the living room is going to be fun! While the couch is a pretty grey, I've already got plans to recover our chair and make pillows for the couch with this GORGEOUS, LOUD fabric that Simeon and I found and fell in love with. I'll have to take pictures and tell you all about our little chair recovering journey.

Ok, I've probably talked your ear (well, er, eyes) off at this point. I hope you are having a fantastic Thursday!

Simeon & Sabra || 2 & 6 Year Anniversaries

MarriageSabra GilbertComment

Ready for a gushy post today? Cause that is what you are going to get!! May is always one of my favorite months, summer comes, school is out, and we celebrate our anniversaries! Our dating and wedding anniversaries are only 3 days apart! Which was to make sure that Simeon remembered when our anniversary way! If the 20th hadn't been a Tuesday in 2014, it probably would have just stayed our only anniversary, but we weren't going to wait for a year that made the 20th a Saturday! It wouldn't have been until next year!

Anyway, lets take a trip down memory road. . .

THEN - 2 Year Dating Anniversary

Simeon and I had both just finished our first year of college when we went to celebrate our 2nd dating anniversary. I think we went to a movie and Simeon's brother college graduation party! I was already done with the whole long distance thing and was ready for Simeon to come back and marry me already. Of course, Simeon has other plans and really wanted to get his Associate's in Bible from Grace University in Omaha. (Apparently he is really determined to live in Nebraska!)

(Excuse the crappy quality photos! Point & Shoot + Facebook download = grainy photos!)

Look at those two crazy kids! We thought we knew so much and were ready to take on the world together. Hahaha! I was just about to start my job at Records & Registration at State and sublease and apartment right above Simeon's apartment so that we could be together the entire summer. I was also taking two summer classes that made me completely crazy for the month of June. Ever gone through the entire Old Testament in one month? While learning calculus as well? It's crazy! Simeon was working for his parents the whole summer and spending the rest of his free time bugging me.

We started experimenting with cookings together and watched countless hours of Stargate. We made blanket forts and lied to the community pool so that we and Simeon's mom could get a family pass instead of paying double the amount for three individual passes. I honestly don't think we spent more than the hours we were both at work apart.

THEN

4 Year Dating Anniversary & Wedding Day

For us, the celebration seemed to last all week since we not only got married, but we were celebrating our 4 year dating anniversary as well!

We were so excited to start our lives together! And were going on our first big trip, just the two of us! We spent our honeymoon in Omaha (Nebraska. . . again. Seriously, maybe we are just meant to be in Nebraska!) so we could go see Wicked and spent the week walking the old market and picking out stuff for our new home together! But all those honeymoon photos I took are somehow gone! :/

NOW

 2 Year Wedding & 6 Years Dating Anniversaries

Honestly, I still can't believe that it's been so long already! It seems like just yesterday we were planning our "perfect" day (which, if I'm being honest, I barely remember most of it since it was so crazy!) So much has changed in the last few years!

We graduated with our bachelor degrees!

We have the most adorable little puppy!

We are moving out of state on our own!

Simeon is about to start grad school!

I have started my own business, and while it works better for me to also have a part time job when we move, it's doing really well!

We've grown so much as a couple and know that we can still continue to grow as a couple as we grow older together.

And I can't wait to see how much more we change together in the future!

Fox Bentley: 11 Week Pupdate

The Gilbert ZooSabra GilbertComment

WEIGHT: Between 15 and 20 pounds POUNDS

Our tiny little boy is getting HUGE!! We are for sure finally seeing how giant his paws are which is something that people have been saying about him since he was our teeny tiny little baby, but we never really believed.

HEIGHT: 12 INCHES TO THE SHOULDER

He is getting taller than his older sister Hazel! They were playing last night and while she still has some muscle and weight on Fox, he has for sure surpassed her in the height department.

LIKES:

Playing fetch! And doing his tricks for mom. Sometimes, he will even pay attention enough to do all his tricks by hand demand only. He loves jumping onto the couch which is something he has finally decided to do instead of constantly waiting to get picked up. He still whimpers and asks to be picked up to get onto the chair (but if no one is paying attention to him, he eventually just jumps up by himself).

DISLIKES:

He hates, hates, hates having to come inside when he would rather be outside. And being ignored is a no go. He will paw at you, nose electronics, and shove himself into your lap until you give him all the attention that he wants and "needs." Oh and getting his nails done and a bath are no goes. He whines and screams and throws a fit and thats before the clipper even gets close to his nails or before he even comes into the bathroom.

NEW TRICKS:

He jumps on command now. I think he really likes it. I'm planning on working on getting him to shake or give high fives next. And we had a complete back pedal on potty training. Apparently, the new cool thing is to alert me that he needs to pee and then start peeing within a few seconds directly where he is. May I mention that the way that he tells us that he has to pee is by jumping towards his leash hanging by the door which usually puts his front paws on our glass side table. So he pees while standing up. It's a giant pain in the butt. But we started giving him treats when he actually pees outside again, so we are hoping that this will turn around again quickly.

Mom's Notes:

Update on his blue eyes: His one eye has remained a quarter blue and I really hope that it never changes! I miss his completely blue eyes, but I'm willing to settle. :) Our little boy really is ridiculously spoiled. I was trying to get him running this morning and started just throwing each and every toy of his across the living room. Within seconds, our super clean living room was covered in toys and a giant mess. But we lost or he chewed up most of his bones, so I'll have to go shopping for him again anyway. :)

And now, who can resist cute sleepy puppy faces?
