It is completely wonderful how God can toss something at you and it become such a blessing!
I wasn't sure if I was going to go to the retreat this weekend at first because of how it cost money and time and "I have such a busy and hectic life so I don't have time for that." I'm so glad that I listened to my bible study leader and went anyway and took the time to share in deep fellowship with my sisters in Christ in the Navigators.
A lot of the girls I had seen on NavNight, had some light chit chat, but never an actual conversation! It's so crazy how you can see someone every week for so long and never actually speak with them! It's slightly ridiculous how self centered we can all be.
We opened the whole retreat with a message on the Gospel. We were asked to approach this talk, not as if we had heard it a million times and nothing was new, but to truely try to see everything that God was doing for us with new eyes. Sherri has little boys so she brought along her children's bible that she reads to them because she loved how the stories were phrased in the book.
I'm pretty sure there were more than a few tears when she told the story of how Jesus begged God, his Papa, to not make him suffere the pain of his Papa turning away from him.
Just by using the word Papa, instead of Father, had just a huge impact on everything that we could think that Jesus ever did for us. It competely astounded us.
After this wonderful message, we had a girls Pintrest craft and nail night! So much girly bonding and amazing food! We made cute magnets which I can't wait to put up on my dry erase board! I think I drank at least 5 cups of hot chocolate!
I know I haven't stayed up so late in forever!
I was up talking and having real conversations with girls that I barely even get to say hi to on a regular basis until 1 AM with a 8AM alarm clock to follow!
:) So worth it!
Then on Saturday morning, our leader Emily came up to share some of her life story. As Sherri and her husband have been called off to start a Navigators in another school, Emily and her husband (who are expecting twin girls this summer!) are stepping up to take the leading roles in our ministry.
It was so great to hear her stories and then jump into small groups and discuss what we felt God was doing in our lives. I'll admit to being a huge baby all weekend with tears streaking down my face.
Some of the things you would never find out about someone because they can hide it so well behind a smile, its crazy.
I feel so blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful sisters in Christ!
We had so much fun and have a new perspictive on a lot of the things going on around us.
I can't beleive that I almost never went!
Have you ever been amazing by going to something you didn't really want to go to?
