What Marriage Takes

Sabra GilbertComment
Sometimes, I feel like Simeon and I have been married forever. Sometimes, I get brought back to the reality that we are still just figuring out everything that goes into this whole marriage journey that we have just barely started on. I mean 8 months of marriage is really nothing when you think of couples who have been married 50, 60, or 70 years! And it isn't always a walk in the park. Sometimes, we glide through our days together completely content and easily. Sometimes, it barely feels like we do more than just live together as the day to day life really takes up every moment. There are so many little things that marriage is made out of.

Marriage takes. . .

   . . . little stolen moments
   . . . genuine "I love you's"
   . . . compromise
. . . taking care of each other when you only want to take care of your self
   . . . sacrifice
   . . . putting someone before yourself
   . . . finding ways to connect
. . . ignoring the little things that bug you
   . . . planning a future
   . . . having a roommate for life
   . . . finantial planning
   . . . late night talks
   . . . spontineity
. . . pride in each other and your relationship
   . . . dealing with parents
   . . . puppy eyes
   . . . apartment decorating
   . . . playful arguments
   . . . being plant parents
   . . . arguments over puppies
   . . . cleaning schedules
   . . . compromising on chores
. . . supporting each others hobbies and dreams
. . . cuddling on the futon with hot cocoa
   . . . sparkling grape juice toasts
. . .  learning each others favorite meals
   . . . grocery shopping together
. . . learning about each other every day

I adore being married. It is just a multifaceted adventure and each day is different. Some days we barely seem to be able to stand each other, and others we can't get enough of each other. Some days neither of us ever want to clean and others we become the cleanest of freaks ever!!
